In 1983 Anga Miller, an art school graduate from North Carolina, discovered the magic of Ecuador. Here in the Andean mountain village of Otavalo, Anga Miller founded a company that produces intensely original clothing.

Each print is the result of an elaborate process combining handpainting, hand dying and wax resisitant batik. Anga is particularly proud of introducing this new art form to a local culture that was already rich in artisanship but greatly in need of innovative ideas.

Winter Sun is more than creative and comfortable clothing - it is a family of employees, striving to produce a quality product that is as beautiful as it is durable. What started as a small business has grown into a company which now provides local men and women decent work that pays a better than average wage. They have joined one another in an international effort to build a future ... a future that will provide a better standard of living, education, and work for many years to come.

In the sewing room, huge windows look out on Otavalo's stunning landscape, while the painters work in the open air, under covered shelters. There are frequent meetings where employees are encouraged to voice their concerns.

Winter Sun takes pride in its product. We sell in a large variety of locations throughout the world, and take careful steps to ensure that our clothing is of the highest quality. Winter Sun makes social responsibility a high priority. An in house kitchen provides lunch for all employees. The building is new, clean, and tastefully designed.
